What more ? New Coach ?

What more does the Indian Team want? The Indian team wants Whatmore. I am worried by the current trend of demands put forth by the Indian team. They want more perks, they want the restrictions on the number of ads they can appear removed, they want more salaries and now they want whatmore!

This is ridiculous. What more can a cricket board provide for its players?

Whatless, a 21 yr old woman from Trinidad and Tobago was shocked at the way the Indian cricket team played their game in the world cup and now, when she heard that they wanted whatmore, she burst out into profanities and even composed a song extempore.

Dude, this is a song by whatless,

for a cricket team which is toothless!

When ur bowlers bowl the ball,

it gets hit to the next-door mall.

when ur batsman face west-indies

they start peeing in their undies!

How dare you ask for what more?

In fact, you won't even get whatless!

Whatmore, on hearing this song, had words of praise for whatless and even proposed marriage to her and wanted to raise "more or less" a family.

Shooting of the movie Boomerang in Cyprus

First of all, why would someone come to Cyprus and shoot a movie? Unless they wanted to commit financial suicide, of course. So, i was surprised when i heard that 90 people had come over from India for a month-long for the movie Boomerang, based on the famous movie Charlie's Angels. A similar movie, Three Roses, made in Tamil based on Charlie's Angels was a miserable flop. It seems that this movie is a 50-50 venture between a Cypriot Producer and an Indian one. Lets hope that this movie turns out to be good, as it would serve as an easy reference for me to show someone about Cyprus. This move doesn't have a hero and stars Amrita Arora, Kim Sharma (ex-girlfriend of Yuvraj) and leher (a relatively new face). Btw, it didn't surprise any of us that Yuvraj had dumped Kim Sharma, judging by the way she was throwing her weight around on the sets(as informed by friends!).

Amrita Arora had given an interview to Mid-day on her return from Cyprus. I have taken some sections from her interview. Have a good laugh!!!

• "Amrita says she went to Cyprus in Greece to shoot for Boomerang". I wonder what the Cypriot producer will feel after seeing this. According to Amrita, Cyprus is in Greece! Amazing geography!


• "The Cyprians are family-oriented people like us". Just because we are Indians, Cypriots don't become Cyprians!

UPDATE : Yesterday (June 6th), i received polite comments/emails from the producer of this movie threatening me with legal action if i didn't remove the photos, as the dress the heroines wore were made from his money and they were copyrighted with him. So, i have removed all the original photos. I have erased from my memory that i ever went to watch the shooting. and what i have written below are just accounts of the shooting which i heard from friends. None of the images in this post are photos taken during the shooting. But, to replace the original images, i went back to alassa park few days later, took some snaps and then used some images of bikes and dune buggys from the Internet and then merged them using photoshop to convey the message. I had also taken a photo of Kim Sharma from the Internet, cut out the face and then superimposed it on one such photo. I hope that she was wearing her own lipstick. I don't want another producer threatening me for owning that lipstick!

Old habits die hard

Last weekend, we had the annual amdocs cricket tournament. Until last year, we used to play on a dusty school ground, but this year we shifted to a dried-up lake bed. In winter/spring, this becomes a salt lake and we have thousands of flamingos stopping here on the way to Africa. When the lake dries up, it becomes an ideal boundary-less ground for all kinds of sports. If Ravi Shastri had been here, he would have loved to try his key-into-the-pitch report here, for the key would have gone all the way in. Such is the moisture in the surface. A smooth and soft surface leads to a very even bounce and thus a good game of cricket. To make it even better, the teams in which i and vidhya played won the cup in the respective categories (Yes, we had women's cricket too!).

Anyway, back to the subject of habits, if you notice all the photos below, there is one common aspect which you should notice. No, not that i am in all of them, they are meant to be my pictures. One common thing which you should notice in all the pictures (apart from the grotesqueness of my face in the last one) is the way i am biting my tongue in the pics. This is a habit which has stuck with me for a long long time. I always do this when i am concentrating at any sport. I don't realise this and since many people ask me, no i don't feel it nor does it pain! The first photo is from last year's event (at the school ground) and I am at it then too. If you compare the first and the second photo (taken this year), I am surprised that i am amazingly consistent in my bowling action, right up to the position of the individual fingers on my hand!

Back in High School, i used to participate in the Long Jump Event. My trainer at that time used to be very concerned about this habit of mine. I later learnt from him that his concern was not for the well-being of my tongue, but for my performance in the long jump. If , in the process of taking a long jump, i bit my tongue too hard and it fell off (!) behind me, the place where the piece fell would be counted as the distance i have jumped, since technically it is a part of my body. This was the reason he was always warning me about this habit, it seems :-)

Top 5 things to do with all the Top 5 Lists

If you have not heard about the Group Writing Project at Problogger, then there is a good chance that you started blogging yesterday :-). Everyone who's anyone is contributing to this project and since i am one of them, i too wanted to write a top 5 list. I thought about the top 5 list i could write on, for a while and then seeing the massive number of top 5 lists being created, i decided to write a top 5 list of things that could be done with all these top 5 lists. So, here goes...

• Link to all the lists. I have already done so by creating a list of all lists. This will not only help me keep a track of all the links i have been to, in a central place (my blog), but also provide loads of surfing opportunities to the readers of my blog. Also, nothing is lost in linking to others. "Linking" is the foundation upon which the blogging world exists and as it is often said "Always share the link love"!
• Read each and every Top 5 list. Yes, you must be thinking that i must be crazy to read through 500 such lists, but believe me, at the end of it, you will realise its worth. It doesn't matter whether you are a geek, a wanderlust, a music lover, a sports lover or whatever, there is a list for you in here. Read them, get to know the people who wrote them and who knows, you might make new friends in the blogosphere. There is a good chance that you have never visited many of the blogs in this list. You may like the writing styles of some of these bloggers and end up adding them to your regular feeds.
• Some of the lists might fascinate you to the extent that you could start a Blog Meme on the same topic on your blog. A Blog Meme is "an idea that is shared and passed from blog to blog, like a question posted in one blog and answered in many other blogs". For example, you might like the list "Top 5 reasons boys are better than girls" and decide to start a blog meme on the same topic on your blog and tag others. But be careful, you might end up being the one responsible for the online war of the sexes!
• Comment on the lists you like. Don't spam the blogs in the hope that they link back to you, but leave comments on the lists you felt a connection with or ones you felt you could contribute more to. For example, geeks (anyone who uses Mac must be a geek!) might want to contribute lot more items to the list "5 Mac Apps for Bloggers".
• Promote the lists on your blog. This doesn't end with just linking to the lists, but also providing your input on the ones you like and recommending them to you readers. Some of you out there might be high-profile bloggers and if you recommend any of the lists, it will result in that blogger getting more exposure. Surely, if their writing is good, they deserve that exposure, don't they?

Top 5 lists for everything under the sun

Darren Rowse a.k.a problogger is probably the best known blogger in the world and anyone who's planning to start blogging and wants to get a foot-hold in the mayhem of the blogosphere has to read his posts on blogging techniques. He is also rumoured to be the biggest earning blogger (i.e richest blogger earning his income from blogging alone).

This week he announced a Group Writing Project titled Top-5, asking participants to write a top 5 list of anything they can think of. The very first day of this project produced over 125 posts on the topic ranging from Top 5 reasons to have a horse to 5 ways to reclaim your couch to the flattering top 5 tips to be the next Darren Rowse.

I am collecting all the links posted to this project below. Towards the end of the week, when this project closes, I am sure that the number of links in the list below would exceed 500. This list should be a good starting place for me for the next few weeks to keep me entertained online.
