Welcome to "The Hunt". I thought about a name for this for quite a long time and finally settled for something simple like "The Hunt". "The Hunt" is derived from two treasure hunts i had conducted at my workplace, Amdocs. Some of the puzzles are my own, some are inspirations and some are even direct lifts from sites on the internet. Credits would be given on the final page, because i don't want people to google for these sites and then solve the puzzles!

This is how "The Hunt" works. On every page you reach, you will find a puzzle which will give you an answer. The answer might be called "magic word", "hidden word" , "password", "code" or something else which makes it very obvious that it is the answer. Once you find this answer eg: "answer", you have to go to www.srajaram.com/thehunt/answer.php to get the next puzzle. Some of the puzzles give both a location and an answer. The location might be a country name or any other word which just doesn't fit in the context. In such a case, the next puzzle would be at www.srajaram.com/thehunt/locationanswer.php.

The puzzle has been split into three stages to enable me to track the progress of the people attempting it. At the end of each of the first two stages, you would be required to mail to an email id to get the location of the next stage. The final stage would lead to the concluding page, where you have to again mail to an id so that I would know that you have completed. Sorry for this "mailing" headache. I am "HTML"ically challenged, so writing scripts to track your progress is way out of my skills.

So, what kind of puzzles can you expect? There are a very broad range of puzzles in this hunt. Some are word-based, some are number-based, some use popular methods of encrytion like semaphores, morse-code, number-substitution, ceaser box etc. Most of the clues would contain a section called "Hunting Tips", which would give you useful information needed to solve future puzzles. This is just to avoid unneccesary "googling" on your part. The "Hunting Tips" section is clearly demarcated and has nothing to do with the puzzle on that page. Needless to say, google is god and many clues require the use of a "search engine".

So, you wanna start "The Hunt" ..Where is the first puzzle or the link to the first puzzle ? Simple, Just send an email to rajaram.hunt@gmail.com including in the subject/body, any login you prefer and you would get a reply with the link to the first puzzle. If you like "The Hunt" and wish to refer your friends to it, please refer them to this page and not to the page of the puzzles. Again, this is for me to track. The login is needed so that I can display the same (rather than your email) on this page if you reach a particular stage.

Please don't try to guess the location of the next puzzle. One, it spoils the fun and two, you might get lost :-). For all clues, the title of the page (appearing on the title bar of the browser) would mention the clue number you are at. If you get a number you didn't expect, you are at the wrong place! Also, I have tested these pages only with IE.
