I got this interesting email-forward today showing the sizes of the planets in the Solar System compared with the Sun and other stars. We are indeed small and negligible compared to the other occupants of our universe.

Arcturus is third brightest star in the night sky after Sirius and Canopus. Pollux is also one of the brightest star. Antares (below) is the 16th brightest star in the night sky. Betelgeuse(below) is the ninth brightest star.

Why am I just learning about this information when I am 52? Why? Why was I not exposed to this in grade school or even in college? I concur with comment #2 “Holy Shit”.

It’s amazing how big the universe is… and what it contains…
and to think about what’s outside the universe….. mind boggling!

It really is a big universe… but I think there is more then just those stars and the sun… I think there are other planets with life and more bigger planets…. “HOLY SHIT”
